HOUSEBREAKING YOUR COTON

Housebreaking your new puppy will probably be the most time-consuming part of training your Coton de Tulear. It takes patience, diligence, and a dash of humor!  There are several appropriate methods for house training Cotons depending on your lifestyle.

Selecting the housebreaking method that fits your lifestyle and works for your Coton puppy is paramount to your success.  It's important to choose a method tailored to small breed dogs. Some owners use bells attached to a ribbon on the door handle for puppies to ring. Others prefer their puppy to eliminate on potty pads or in dog litter boxes. Some people like for their new puppy to learn to bark when they need to go out. Also, owners may teach their older puppies to use a doggie door to go outside on their own.  Listed below are links that we hope will help you in your quest.
